Hello everyone,
Welcome back to the final edition of 2022! Last week, I delved into the importance of taking control of your happiness and well-being in the face of the rapidly changing future of work.
I provided some thought-provoking questions to help you reflect on your current state of health, relationships, and work, and outlined a plan for making positive changes in the new year. I also invited you to join me at an upcoming community meet-up, where we can work together to take action on our goals and make a difference. If you're a builder or entrepreneur looking to work on something that truly matters, don't miss out on this opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals and make a positive impact. (You can find the full article here).
Now, let’s shift gears and tackle today’s edition. It's the end of the year and you know what that means - it's time to KonMari the crap out of your life! For those unfamiliar with Marie Kondo, she's the queen of organization and the author of "The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up." Her method is all about getting rid of the things that don't bring you joy and keeping only the things that do.
Here's how it works: gather all your stuff in one place and then sort through it one category at a time. This could be clothes, books, papers, miscellaneous items, and sentimental items. As you go through each item, ask yourself if it sparks joy. If it does, keep it. If it doesn't, say thanks for the memories and toss it out.
Alternatively, you can rate each item on a scale from 1 to 10, with 1 being the least amount of joy and 10 being the most. If something scores an 8 or lower, it's time to say goodbye.
To get started, try tackling your clothes first. Gather all your garments in one place and go through each one, asking yourself if it sparks joy or rating it on a scale from 1 to 10. If it doesn't bring you at least an 8 out of 10 level of joy, consider donating it or finding another way to dispose of it responsibly. This will not only help you get rid of the stuff you don't value, but it will also make it easier to find and appreciate the clothes that you do love and wear frequently.
Overall, the KonMari Method is a practical and mindful approach to decluttering and organizing your space. By surrounding yourself with only the things that bring you joy, you can create a more peaceful and organized environment that supports your happiness and well-being. I’ll look forward to do it myself before January 8th.
So go on, KonMari your way into the new year! Happy decluttering! See you in January! And to all of you who will be joining us later, let’s wrap it up big time 😛
To your future you,
Cheers,
Dom
